Slow iPod problems?
Posted May 15th, 2007 by cianLately, my iPod has been acting up. (the 5th gen Video one). Because of the huge amount of podcast i listen to, trying to scroll through the podcast and song menus is a daunting task, cause it keeps freezing. Fear not! I have a solution for you! Defragging your iPod! Here is what i did to make the problem a little better.
0. Backup all your songs and movies if you are afraid of loosing them.
1. Create a new playlist. Call it 'Empty' and make sure that it IS empty.
2. Set your iPod only to sync to this one playlist. Don't let it sync to movies, podcasts or anything. Just this one playlist.
3. Sync your iPod. If you are anything like me, this could take up to 1o minutes, as what is happening is all your songs are being deleted from your iPod. (they will stay in iTunes and wherever you backed them up though.)
4. When your iPod is done deleting, delete the 'Empty' playlist and change your iPod settings so that you can sync everything again
5. Sync everything again.

VFTQ no 52 - Time to earn me some explicit!
Posted May 6th, 2007 by cianVFTQ no 52 - Time to earn me some explicit! - Firstly: sorry about the quiet recording. It won't happen again.

I talk about my copy of Ancestor which arrived in a lovely big brown box yesterday.
And then some vague nattering.
Once I sell 10 t-shirts which are not the black long sleeved girls shirt, (The cheerleader shirt is included in this competition) I will announce through the mailing list, and later in the week, through the podcast, that the competition is on. You will then email me through an email address which I will tell you closer to the time with your full name and address and choice of shirt (which must not cost more then €20.40) and I will pull a name out of a hat.
If you have previously bought a shirt, let me know, and send a picture of you wearing it. You will get entered into the hat twice.
If you let me post the picture of you wearing the shirt on the interwebs, you will get entered three times into that hat, giving you a huge advantage in this game.
The easiest way to win a free shirt, therefore, is buy a shirt which is not the black long sleeved women's shirt. If you have bought this shirt, you can still get entered three times by sending a picture and letting me post it, you will just not contribute to the 10 shirts sold.
http://www.viewfromthequad.com . This will let you enter early, and I will announce the winner though that method first. I will then announce it on the podcast, and if you don't respond within 4 days, somebody else gets the shirt. So it would make sense to sign up.

Podcasters stage cancer benefit using "First of May" by Jonathan Coulton
Posted May 2nd, 2007 by cianAs a benefit for the family of Joe Murphy, a podcaster and XM Radio personality who passed away on April 1st, a group of podcasters spearheaded by Paul Fischer and Phil Rossi have created a Creative Commons-licensed version of Jonathan Coulton's hilariously profane song 'First of May.'
All Hail the Late Joe Murphy!
