Lately, my iPod has been acting up. (the 5th gen Video one). Because of the huge amount of podcast i listen to, trying to scroll through the podcast and song menus is a daunting task, cause it keeps freezing. Fear not! I have a solution for you! Defragging your iPod! Here is what i did to make the problem a little better.
0. Backup all your songs and movies if you are afraid of loosing them.
1. Create a new playlist. Call it 'Empty' and make sure that it IS empty.
2. Set your iPod only to sync to this one playlist. Don't let it sync to movies, podcasts or anything. Just this one playlist.
3. Sync your iPod. If you are anything like me, this could take up to 1o minutes, as what is happening is all your songs are being deleted from your iPod. (they will stay in iTunes and wherever you backed them up though.)
4. When your iPod is done deleting, delete the 'Empty' playlist and change your iPod settings so that you can sync everything again
5. Sync everything again.
6. Enjoy your slightly faster iPod!
