VFTQ no 52 - Time to earn me some explicit! - Firstly: sorry about the quiet recording. It won't happen again.

In this happy-go-lucky episode of the View from the Quad podcast i talk about how you can get yourself a free VFTQ shirt... But only if you either feel darn lucky or buy a shirt. Its like one of those Public Good games which I learnt about during Game Theory in DCU!(
http://tinyurl.com/24gs9y )
I talk about my copy of Ancestor which arrived in a lovely big brown box yesterday.
And then some vague nattering.

Lets look a bit closer at the rules for the T-shirt competition.
Once I sell 10 t-shirts which are not the black long sleeved girls shirt, (The cheerleader shirt is included in this competition) I will announce through the mailing list, and later in the week, through the podcast, that the competition is on. You will then email me through an email address which I will tell you closer to the time with your full name and address and choice of shirt (which must not cost more then €20.40) and I will pull a name out of a hat.
If you have previously bought a shirt, let me know, and send a picture of you wearing it. You will get entered into the hat twice.
If you let me post the picture of you wearing the shirt on the interwebs, you will get entered three times into that hat, giving you a huge advantage in this game.
The easiest way to win a free shirt, therefore, is buy a shirt which is not the black long sleeved women's shirt. If you have bought this shirt, you can still get entered three times by sending a picture and letting me post it, you will just not contribute to the 10 shirts sold.

You can buy a shirt by going to www.viewfromthequad.com and clicking the 'shirts' button on the left hand side.

In order to hear when I sell the first 10, sign up to the mailing list at
http://www.viewfromthequad.com . This will let you enter early, and I will announce the winner though that method first. I will then announce it on the podcast, and if you don't respond within 4 days, somebody else gets the shirt. So it would make sense to sign up.

The promo you heard today is somehow involved with

See you lot next time!

Podcasters stage cancer benefit using "First of May" by Jonathan Coulton

As a benefit for the family of Joe Murphy, a podcaster and XM Radio personality who passed away on April 1st, a group of podcasters spearheaded by Paul Fischer and Phil Rossi have created a Creative Commons-licensed version of Jonathan Coulton's hilariously profane song 'First of May.'
All Hail the Late Joe Murphy!

Justin.tv is strange

A while back, (39 days back, in fact) I discovered, through our friend Digg.com, a project named Justin.tv. Basicly, what it is, is an attempt to view somebody elses life through a camera stuck to his hat, for the rest of his life. The man in question is Justin, hero of many.
I was holding back on talking about this, bucause i thought that it might fall appart. But 40 days on, it is still going strong.
You can watch Justin live right here!

VFTQ 51 - Interview with Mur Lafferty - In this episode of the View from the Quad, I talk to Author Mur Lafferty of the great podcasts Geek Fu Action Grip, Pseudopod and I Should Be Writing, and the great podcasting book, Tricks of the Podcasting Masters all available at www.murlafferty.com. Thanks to Mur for making a hub like site so that I don't have to rush all over the interwebs looking for her stuff. *Glares at Tee Morris*
We talk (and giggle) about many things, including Worker monkeys which eat useless materials, a possible Guinness World Records Attempt and Advertising in Podcasting.
Continuing on the fun, I play the song Who Dogs the Outlet by George Hrab, (great song) and then a promo for Geek Fu Action Grip.
